From NDC 2.0 to NDC 3.0: Translating Climate Commitments into Private-Sector Action

Elson Solutions presented the expected impact of North Macedoniaโ€™s NDC 2.0 on the private sector in Budapest, alongside a Just Transition Business Case, developed in partnership with Finovate MK. The discussion took place at a timely moment, as the country prepares its upcoming NDC 3.0.

The engagement demonstrated growing interest among private-sector leaders in understanding how climate commitments translate into real investment implications, competitiveness, and innovation opportunities.

Reframing the Green Transition

At Elson Solutions, we see the green transition not only as a climate obligation, but as a strategic driver of competitiveness and innovation. It is encouraging to see this narrative gaining traction well beyond policy circles and resonating strongly with businesses and economic stakeholders.

Large-scale transformations, such as the green energy transition, require rigorous analysis, credible assumptions, and close collaboration with the private sector, which is expected to mobilize up to 85% of the required investment. Without clear signals, realistic business cases, and aligned incentives, climate ambition risks remaining disconnected from implementation.

Where Elson Solutions Adds Value

This is precisely where Elson Solutions positions its work:
providing clear, evidence-based assessments combined with practical, implementable recommendations that help accelerate private-sector engagement and investment.

Our focus is not on producing strategies or action plans for their own sake. Instead, we are obsessed with efficiency – ensuring that policy frameworks, investment signals, and implementation pathways are coherent, credible, and usable by businesses.

We extend our sincere thanks to the International Labour Organization, the Business Confederation of North Macedonia, and the Organization of Employers of Macedonia for their strong engagement and dedication to advancing just transition and sustainability discussions with the private sector.

As North Macedonia moves toward NDC 3.0, aligning climate ambition with investment reality, business competitiveness, and innovation capacity will be critical. Elson Solutions remains committed to supporting this alignmentโ€”turning climate commitments into bankable, growth-oriented outcomes.
